Lip enhancement

Probably the most common form of plastic surgery these days is a lip enhancement. A big part of the reason for this is that it is such a simple procedure that most people don't really think twice about having it done. Changing the shape of you lips can give your face a whole new look which is why so many women are now choosing to have it done.

In recent years lip enhancement has become one of the most widely performed cosmetic surgeries, in large part because a full set of lips is considered to be attractive on women. The idea of a lip enhancement is to increase the volume of the lips as well as to change the shape to make sure that they look their best. This is a fairly simple procedure which is another reason why it is so popular, in most cases there is no recovery time needed so you don't need to take time out of your life to have the procedure done.

There are a few different ways that a lip enhancement can be done, the most common is to use a synthetic filler to increase the size and the shape of the lip. This is done with a simple injection so there is really no surgery involved. The downside to this type of procedure is that it is not permanent, the results will last from four to eight months before you will need to get another injection. The good news is that since the procedure is little more than an injection it is quick and easy to have this done on a fairly regular basis.

The other option when it comes to lip enhancement is to have your own fat grafted into your lips. This is a more involved procedure but it does produce better results. The reason is that your own fat has a more natural feel than a synthetic filler. This procedure is also permanent. In this case fat will be harvested from some other part of your body, usually the love handles and it will be injected into your lips. The downside here is that a small scar will be left in the area that the fat was harvested from.

After your lip enhancement procedure you will need a few days for the swelling to go down in order to see the final results. In most cases there will be some discomfort that can last for up to a couple of weeks. This is far more common with the fat injections than with the synthetic injections. The pain can usually be managed fairly easily with over the counter medications. If you are considering having a lip enhancement you are going to need to talk to your doctor about your options. There are a few people for whom the procedure is not appropriate, these are mainly people with allergies to the filler.
